Bioactivity of an organic farming aid with possible fungistatic properties against some oil palm seedling foliar pathogens

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Synthetic fungicides are necessary evil in crop production, their usage cannot be neglected or abandoned but must be alternated/supplemented with other control measures such as cultural, host resistance and biocontrol methods to reduce their detrimental ...

Charting the Path to Increased Oil Palm Output in Ghana Beyond Area Expansion: Technology or Managerial Capacity — Which Leads the Way?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study sets out to investigate the prospects for raising oil palm output in sub‐Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana, without further expansion of cropland. Given global concerns about oil palm's role in deforestation and land use change, the focus is on enhancing productivity on existing farmlands.

Comparative transcriptomic analysis of Metisa plana: downregulation of cry toxin receptors and detoxification genes in populations with reduced susceptibility to Bacillus thuringiensis biopesticide

open access: yesChemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture
Metisa plana Walker (Lepidoptera: Psychidae) is a major defoliator in oil palm plantations. The continuous application of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bioinsecticide has raised concerns about its declining efficacy.

Genotype and Nitrogen Source Influence Drought Stress Response in Oil Palm Seedlings

open access: yesAgronomy
As a significant global source of vegetable oil, the oil palm’s ability to withstand abiotic stresses, particularly drought, is crucial for sustainable agriculture. This is especially significant in tropical regions, where water scarcity is becoming more

Characterisation of synthesized protected fat from used cooking palm oil and palm olein for animal feed application [PDF]

open access: yes
In the present work, a new protected fat was produced from used cooking palm oil (UCO) by using modified fusion method. Used cooking oil protected fat (UCOPF) was compared with produced palm olein protected fat (POPF) and commercial protected fat (CPF ...

Is Youth's Engagement in Agribusiness an Opportunity or a Necessity? A Closer Look at the Situation in South Kivu, Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the broad focus on necessity‐ and opportunity‐driven entrepreneurship in research and policy, the entrepreneurial dichotomy within the agribusiness context has not been adequately addressed. This study contributes to closing this knowledge gap by examining youth's perceptions of agribusiness through the lens of the push‐pull motivation

Self‐Sensing Artificial‐Muscle‐Empowered Humanlike Perception, Interaction, and Positioning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The proposed self‐sensorized artificial muscle (SSAM) can sense its length change as small as 0.01 mm via a seamlessly integrated multi‐segment induction coil. The SSAM provides accurate length information regardless of its loadings, driving pressure, or muscle design, adequate for robust data‐driven feedback control.
