Allelochemicals from palmer amaranth,Amaranthus palmeri S. Wats

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1987
The presence of Palmer amaranth (AMAPA) residues in the soil reduced fresh weight accumulation in onions and carrots and markedly decreased seedling field establishment of carrots. Solid-phase separation techniques were used to isolate fractions containing water-soluble organic compounds from AMAPA residues and soil amended with such residues.

Sweetpotato Tolerance and Palmer Amaranth Control with Metribuzin and Oryzalin

Weed Technology, 2017
Field studies were conducted in Clinton, NC in 2007 and 2009 to determine sweetpotato crop response and Palmer amaranth control with metribuzin and oryzalin. Treatments consisted of 140 and 202 g ai ha−1metribuzin applied immediately after transplanting [0 wk after transplanting (WAP)] or 2 WAP, 560 and 1121 g ha−1oryzalin 0 WAP, and tank mixes of ...

Positive and normative modeling for Palmer amaranth control and herbicide resistance management

Pest Management Science, 2017
AbstractBACKGROUNDDynamic optimization models are normative; they solve for what growers ‘ought to do’ to maximize some objective, such as long‐run profits. While valuable for research, such models are difficult to solve computationally, limiting their applicability to grower resistance management education.

Prevention and Control of Palmer Amaranth in Cotton

2020
Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri), a member of the "pigweed" family, is one of the most troublesome weeds in many southern row crops. Seed can germinate all season and plants can grow to over 6 feet in height. Plants have either male flowers that shed pollen or female flowers that can produce up to 600,000 seed per plant.
