Early Carboniferous (Early Viséan – Serpukhovian) Palynomorphs
Abstract. Well preserved assemblages of Early Carboniferous miospores have been recovered from a number of wells including A1–NC92, A1–37, A1 A–84, B1–2, G1–82, B1–14 and J1–81A. In some cases the palynomorph assemblages are quantitatively sparse and frequently show evidence of reworking of Late Devonian forms.

ABSTRACT The Carboniferous‐Permian Tarija basin of southern Bolivia evolved under major tectonic and climatic influence. The timing of transition from glacially influenced to arid conditions, after the Gondwanide tectonic event, has been based mainly on palynological correlations.

Landscape-scale drivers of glacial ecosystem change in the montane forests of the eastern Andean flank, Ecuador [PDF]
Understanding the impact of landscape-scale disturbance events during the last glacial period is vital in accu- rately reconstructing the ecosystem dynamics of montane environments. Here, a sedimentary succession from the tropical montane cloud forest of

Abstract The Late Cretaceous witnessed numerous transgression–regression sequences and the onset of a global cooling phase at the start of the Campanian. In the European archipelago, these environmental changes, combined with active plate tectonics, facilitated the formation of ephemeral land bridges that served as dispersal routes for a variety of ...

High-resolultion reconstruction of Lena River discharge during the Late Holocene inferred from microalgae assemblages [PDF]
On the basis of a detailed study of the diatom and aquatic palynomorph assemblages and a detailed radiocarbon chronology of sediment cores obtained from the south-eastern inner Laptev Sea shelf adjacent to the Lena Delta the spatial and temporal ...

Ceramic micropalaeontology: the analysis of microfossils in ancient ceramics [PDF]
Microfossils can be a common component of ancient ceramic artefacts. Their analysis in this unusual context is a little-known, yet promising cross-disciplinary application of micropalaeontology.

Abstract The Strathpeffer–Struie Lower Devonian LORS (Lower Old Red Sandstone) deposits of the Northern Highlands of Scotland contain the decidedly unusual ‘foetid beds’. These are interpreted as being deposited in a highly saline sulphate lake and associated playa mudflat, which developed in an intermontane basin in the Caledonian Mountains of ...
