The tectonic evolution of central and Northern Madagascar and its place in the final assembly of Gondwana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Copyright © 2002 by The University of Chicago. All rights reserved.Recent work in central and northern Madagascar has identified five tectonic units of the East African Orogen (EAO), a large collisional zone fundamental to the amalgamation of Gondwana ...

Terrestrial Analogs to Titan for Geophysical Research

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Saturn's moon Titan exhibits remarkable parallels to the Earth in many geophysical and geological processes not found elsewhere in the solar system at the present day. These include a nitrogen atmosphere with a condensible gas—methane—replacing the Earth's water, leading to an active meteorology with rainfall and surface manifestations ...

The missing piece of the South Atlantic jigsaw: when continental break-up ignores crustal heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Crustal heterogeneity is considered to play a critical role in the position of continental break-up, yet this can only be demonstrated when a fully constrained pre-break-up configuration of both conjugate margins is achievable.

Interior Rifting Coupled With Peripheral Subduction in the Rodinia Supercontinent: New Insights From the Tarim Craton

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract After assembly, supercontinents are shaped by internal rifting and peripheral subduction. However, the geodynamic relationship between these two processes and their respective contributions to supercontinent breakup remain poorly understood.

Strontium Isotopic Variations of Neoproterozoic Seawater: Implications for Crustal Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We report high precision Sr isotopic data on carbonates from the Neoproterozoic Shaler Group, Victoria Island, Northwest Territories, Canada. Lithostratigraphic correlations with the relatively well-dated Mackenzie Mountains Supergroup constrain Shaler ...

Depositional and stratigraphic evolution of a Permian megalake system: Implications for seiche‐influenced models

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2026.
During the Late Permian, the rise of the Gondwanides Belt trapped marine waters, giving birth to a vast megalake. This lake shifted between overfilled, balanced‐fill and underfilled stages that are recorded by high‐frequency accommodation changes, while meteorological seiches shaped the sedimentary dynamic and produced heterolithic beds.

Metal sources for the Katanga Copperbelt deposits (DRC) insights from Sr and Nd isotope ratios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The ore deposits of the Central African Copperbelt formed during a multiphase mineralisation process. The basement underlying the Neoproterozoic Katanga Supergroup that hosts the ore, demonstrates the largest potential as metal source.

Organic Geochemical Characterization and Exploration Prospects of Hydrocarbon Source Rocks in Nepal

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1781-1794, April 2026.
It provides a more detailed introduction to the current situation of oil and gas exploration in Nepal, as well as the properties and distribution characteristics of source rocks. ABSTRACT This study aims to evaluate the hydrocarbon generation potential and exploration prospects of hydrocarbon source rocks in the Dailekh to Dang–Tansen area of Nepal ...

Metamorphic and metasomatic evolution of the Western Domain of the Karagwe-Ankole Belt (Central Africa) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The tectonometamorphic evolution of the Western Domain of the Karagwe-Ankole Belt, containing widespread granite-related W-Nb-Ta-Sn mineralization in pegmatites and hydrothermal quartz veins of Early Neoproterozoic age, is largely unknown.
