Optimizing Panning Operating Parameters for Alluvial Gold Processing: The Case of the Wakaso Panning Plant

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
The best configuration corresponding to the optimal rate of site handmade panning of gold gravel is obtain by using experimental plan and machine learning. The optimization of alluvial gold yield by genetic algorithms showed that the best configuration of 86.217% at a 10° slope and a 5 tr/min rotation speed.

A Recipe for Exotic Continental Fragment Formation: Key Constraints From Numerical Rift Models

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The Wilson Cycle describes the opening and closing of oceans, generating new plate boundaries at continental rifts, and extinguishing ancient plate boundaries with continental collisions (creating a continental suture). However, the general view of the Wilson Cycle does not fully explain more complex tectonic scenarios.

Inversion tectonics, interference pattern and extensional fault-related folding in the Eastern Anti-Atlas, Morocco [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Anti-Atlas belt of Morocco is a Variscan chain which appears as a huge anticlinorium oriented NE-SW. In the internal part of this structure, the actual relief shows the basement cropping out as inliers (Piqué 2001) or boutonnières. The cover, a thick

Precambrian protoliths and Early Paleozoic magmatism in the French Massif Central: U–Pb data and the North Gondwana connection in the west European Variscan belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceU–Pb geochronological data were collected on zircon by LA-MC-ICP-MS on orthogneiss and paragneiss from the Limousin area in the French Massif Central (FMC), in order to investigate the connection between the west European Variscan ...

Helium Isotope Variations in Gulf of Aden Basalts and the Surface Expression of Mantle Heterogeneity During Afar Plume—Triple Junction Interaction

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract New helium isotope data for basalt glasses from the Gulf of Tadjoura and Gulf of Aden reveal a mantle plume signal that has 3He/4He up to 17 RA. In the Gulf of Aden, plume helium is detectable ∼380 km from the Afar triple junction, up to the Shukra El Sheik Fracture Zone along the West Sheba Ridge, but not beyond.

Analysis of Aeromagnetic Data for Enhancing Geologic Features Using Filtering Techniques Over the Congo Craton–Pan-African Belt Contact, Centre-East Cameroon

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geophysics
The Pan-African mobile zone, situated at the margin of the Congo Craton in Cameroon, is characterized by a geological setting with polyphased tectonics, which can be summarised as the alternation of compression and extension events.

Fusing satellite imagery and ground geochemical data to map alteration zones for gold exploration in western Nigeria

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences
As alteration mapping is vital in identifying signatures of specific mineral deposits, this study aimed to map alteration zones associated with orogenic gold mineralization in the Wawa area using remote sensing and geochemical data.
