Prevalence and Relatedness of Salmonella in the Environments of Livestock Markets Handling Surplus Dairy Calves

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Livestock markets are critical hubs within animal trade networks that influence pathogen dissemination at the regional and national scale. Indeed, a 2016 Salmonella serovar Heidelberg outbreak, initially linked to surplus dairy calves at livestock markets, sickened 63 people across 17 states.

Institutional Governance and Global FDI Convergence: Examining the Impact of Institutional Quality on Investment Flows

open access: yesJournal of Public Affairs, Volume 26, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The global investment landscape presents challenges as subdued growth prospects, geopolitical tensions, and economic disintegration reshape international investment. Increasing tensions are making globalization more exorbitant and uncertain.

Milk Fatty Acid Dynamics in Cows Grazing Standard and Multispecies Pastures Under Two Management Systems

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study evaluated the influence of three pasture‐management systems on milk fatty acid (FA) profiles in New Zealand dairy cows: standard–contemporary (STD–CON), diverse–contemporary (DIV–CON), and diverse–regenerative (DIV–REG). The STD–CON pastures consisted of ryegrass–clover, whereas diverse pastures included up to 16 species of grasses, legumes,

Predicting long‐term population viability for an imperiled salamander under future climate changes

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 3, April 2026.
We evaluated the long‐term viability of 2 reticulated flatwoods salamander (Ambystoma bishopi) populations in response to multiple future climate change scenarios. We found that there is a high probability of extinction by 2100 under some scenarios, mostly driven by severe droughts and repeated reproductive failure. Conservation actions should focus on

Dispersal and delimitation: Phylogenomics of Connaraceae prompts revised generic delimitation in Cnestideae and reveals global biogeographic patterns

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract The tempo and mode of assembly of the world's most diverse, tropical floras remain poorly known. Evolutionary relationships within pantropical plant clades such as Connaraceae (Oxalidales, ca. 220 species) offer an opportunity to address this issue.

Incomplete lineage sorting and hybridization as sources of gene tree discordance among species of the Geminata clade of Solanum (Solanaceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Discordance among gene trees, including discrepancies with the species tree, is increasingly reported in analyses of phylogenomic data. Such discordance can result from technical issues such as misalignment, paralogy, or model misfit, or from biological processes such as incomplete lineage sorting (ILS), hybridization with introgression, or ...

Revealing patterns of endemism in the transatlantic family Chelodesmidae (Polydesmida: Diplopoda)

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 42, Issue 2, Page 159-171, April 2026.
Abstract With fossil records dating back to the Silurian/Late Ordovician, millipedes stand out as one of the earliest terrestrial animal groups. Their limited vagility and high endemism make them valuable tools for formulating and testing biogeographic hypotheses, including those related to macro‐vicariance events.
