INTERACTION BETWEEN PANCURONIUM BROMIDE AND VECURONIUM BROMIDE
The interaction between two non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents, pancuronium bromide and vecuronium bromide, has been studied at standardized levels of neuromuscular blockade and alternating the sequence of their administration, in 40 surgical patients.

Platelet kinetics in the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo assessed by intravital microscopy [PDF]
Growing evidence supports the substantial pathophysiological impact of platelets on the development of acute lung injury. Methods for studying these cellular mechanisms in vivo are not present yet.

We demonstrated that the predictive properties in the administration of amiodarone 10 min before the declamping of the aorta can significantly lower the rates of arrhythmia after CABG, while also decreasing hospitalization duration. Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent arrhythmia after cardiac surgery causing a range of ...

Inhibition of Plasma Kallikrein with Aprotinin in porcine endotoxin Shock [PDF]
Activation of the contact phase of coagulation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of septic shock. We wanted to determine if inhibition of plasma kallikrein can prevent arterial hypotension and liberation of kinins from kininogen, induced by an ...

Nanotherapeutics for Alleviating Anesthesia‐Associated Complications
Nanotechnology exhibits excellent performance in anesthesia‐associated toxicity via safety nano‐formulization design, alter their pharmacokinetics and higher pharmacodynamic activities of anesthetics toxicity. Abstract Current management of anesthesia‐associated complications falls short in terms of both efficacy and safety.

Leukocyte sequestration in pulmonary microvessels and lung injury following systemic complement activation in rabbits [PDF]
Inflammatory reactions are associated with sequestration of leukocytes in the lung. Complement activation leads to accumulation of leukocytes in alveolar septa and alveoli, to lung edema and hemorrhage.

Determination of the mean cross-sectional area of the thoracic aorta using a double indicator dilution technique [PDF]
A double indicator dilution technique for determining the mean cross-sectional area (CSA) of a blood vessel in vivo is presented. Analogous to the thermodilution method, dilution of hypertonic saline was measured by an electrical conductance technique ...
