Inhibition and potentiation of the exercise pressor reflex by pharmacological modulation of TRPC6 in male rats

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The majority of L4–L5 dorsal root ganglion cells innervating the triceps surae muscles of healthy rats expressed TRPC6 channels. In decerebrated rats, pharmacological inhibition of TRPC6 channels by injection of antagonists (SAR7334 or BI‐749327) into the arterial supply of the triceps surae muscles inhibited the exercise pressor

Lactate and hydrogen ions play a predominant role in evoking the exercise pressor reflex during ischaemic contractions but not during freely perfused contractions

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The role of lactate and hydrogen ions in evoking the metabolic component of the exercise pressor reflex was studied in rats with either a functional pygm gene (pygm+/+) or with a non‐functional “knocked out” pygm gene (pygm−/−). The pygm gene is responsible for producing the myophosphorylase enzyme which catalyses the breakdown ...

Recoiling DNA Molecule: Simulation & Experiment [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A 345, 173-184 (2005), 2002
Single molecule DNA experiments often generate data from force versus extension measurements involving the tethering of a microsphere to one end of a single DNA molecule while the other is attached to a substrate. We show that the persistence length of single DNA molecules can also be measured based on the recoil dynamics of these DNA-microsphere ...

Safety and efficacy of xenon in routine use as an inhalational anaesthetic [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
40 patients (24 male, 16 female, aged 21-59 years) of American Society of Anesthesiologists class I or II who were undergoing routine surgery took part in a randomised, double-blind comparison of the anaesthetic efficacy and potency of xenon and nitrous ...

PRMT1 Ablation in Endothelial Cells Causes Endothelial Dysfunction and Aggravates COPD Attributable to Dysregulated NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 19, May 22, 2025.
This study investigates the role of protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1) in endothelial cells (ECs) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mice with endothelial‐specific PRMT1 deletion develop pulmonary hemorrhage, inflammation, and apoptosis, driven by excessive nuclear factor kappa B activation.

Metal Cluster's Effect on the Optical Properties of Cesium Bromide Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cesium Bromide films grown of glass substrates by thermal evaporation showed interesting optical properties. The UV-visible absorption spectra showed peaks which showed red shift with time. Structural and morphological studies suggested decrease in grain size with time which was unusual.

Preparation of Highly Crystalline TiO2 Nanostructures by Acid-assisted Hydrothermal Treatment of Hexagonal-structured Nanocrystalline Titania/Cetyltrimethyammonium Bromide Nanoskeleton [PDF]

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2010, 5:1829-1835, 2010
Highly crystalline TiO2 nanostructures were prepared through a facile inorganic acid-assisted hydrothermal treatment of hexagonal-structured assemblies of nanocrystalline titiania templated by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (Hex-ncTiO2/CTAB Nanoskeleton) as starting materials.

d‐Amphetamine and Feeding States Cohesively Affect Locomotion and Motor Neuron Response in Zebrafish Larvae

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 14, Issue 12, December 2024.
This preclinical explores the concomitant effect of different feeding states and amphetamine on behavior and brain using larval zebrafish as an animal model. Here, the zebrafish larvae were kept in satiated and food‐deprived state acutely and chronically followed by an acute amphetamine treatment.
