Femtosecond study of the effects of ions on the reorientation dynamics of water [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Liquids Volume: 176 Special Issue: SI Pages: 22-28, Dec. 2012, 2013
We study the effects of ions on the reorientation dynamics of liquid water with polarization-resolved femtosecond mid-infared spectroscopy. We probe the anisotropy of the excitation of the O-D stretch vibration of HDO molecules in solutions of NaCl, NaI and tetra-alkylammonium bromide salts in 8 percent HDO:H2O.

Modulation of Hypothalamic Dopamine Neuron Activity by Interaction Between Caloric State and Amphetamine in Zebrafish Larvae

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 102, Issue 11, November 2024.
ABSTRACT Dopamine (DA) signaling is evoked by both food and drugs that humans come to abuse. Moreover, physiological state (e.g., hunger versus satiety) can modulate the response. However, there is great heterogeneity among DA neurons. Limited studies have been performed that could resolve the interaction between physiological state and drug ...

The protein disulfide isomerase A3 and osteopontin axis promotes influenza‐induced lung remodelling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 181, Issue 22, Page 4610-4627, November 2024.
Abstract Background and Purpose Fibrotic lung remodelling after a respiratory viral infection represents a debilitating clinical sequela. Studying or managing viral–fibrotic sequela remains challenging, due to limited therapeutic options and lack of understanding of mechanisms.

Alveolar distribution of nebulized solution in health and lung injury assessed by confocal microscopy

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 12, Issue 20, October 2024.
Abstract Parenchymal distribution of nebulized drug in healthy and diseased lungs has not, as evident from a literature review, been well characterized. We use a vibrating mesh nebulizer to deliver fluorescein solution in vivo to healthy or intratracheal‐lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐instilled anesthetized rats in dorsal recumbency, or ex vivo to the lungs ...

Comparison of the effects of Org NC 45 and pancuronium bromide on heart rate and arterial pressure in anaesthetized man.

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1982
The effects of Org NC 45 and pancuronium bromide on heart rate and arterial pressure were studied in anaesthetized man. A bolus of either Org NC 45 0.1 mg kg-1 or pancuronium 0.1 mg kg-1 was administered to lightly anaesthetized unstimulated subjects ...

Unimolecular Cucurbit[7]uril‐Based Indicator Displacement Assay with Dual Signal‐Readout for the Detection of Drugs

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 4, Issue 5, September 2024.
A dual readout chemosensor assay is presented that utilizes a cucurbit[7]uril (CB7)‐indicator conjugate for the optical and electrochemical detection of drugs in water. The assay works on the basis that the fluorescence and electrochemical properties of the reporter molecule change when it is engulfed by the CB7 or displaced from its cavity by an ...

Clearly Discriminate the Continuum Band and Exciton State of the Hybrid Lead Bromide Perovskite [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials 8, 1902026 (2020), 2019
Electronic states of the hybrid perovskite enable their promising applications as distinctive optoelectronic materials. The understanding of their electronic structures and charge characters remains highly controversial. The electronic mechanism such as reabsorption, Urbach tail and indirect band for interpreting dual-peak emissions is one of the ...

Inhibition of Plasma Kallikrein with Aprotinin in porcine endotoxin Shock [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Activation of the contact phase of coagulation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of septic shock. We wanted to determine if inhibition of plasma kallikrein can prevent arterial hypotension and liberation of kinins from kininogen, induced by an ...

Exploring the role of mechanical forces on tendon development using in vivo model: A scoping review

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, Volume 253, Issue 6, Page 550-565, June 2024.
Abstract Tendons transmit the muscle contraction forces to bones and drive joint movement throughout life. While extensive research have indicated the essentiality of mechanical forces on tendon development, a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental role of mechanical forces still needs to be impaerted. This scoping review aimed to summarize the

Control of ventilation by continuous infusion of pancuronium bromide [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 1981
SummaryCertain groups of patients who require prolonged intermittent positive pressure ventilation in the Intensive Therapy Unit are difficult to manage with conventional sedative and narcotic drugs, and require muscle paralysis. In such cases, the authors have preferred a continuous infusion of a long‐acting muscle relaxant using a syringe pump rather
