Resolution of pancytopenia in a dog infected with Bartonella rochalimae in association with antibiotic therapy

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Fever, non‐regenerative anaemia and leukopenia were documented in a 7‐year‐old, entire, male Akita Inu dog. The serum biochemistry and urinalysis were unremarkable. Tests for infectious agents were negative, except for SNAP 4Dx seropositive for Anaplasma phagocytophilum or A. platys. PCR for Anaplasma spp. was negative.

Diagnosis and Management of Hypersensitivity to Antiplatelet Drugs: EAACI Position Paper

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Antiplatelet drug (APD) therapy is the cornerstone for the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The main APDs are aspirin and thienopyridines, particularly clopidogrel. These drugs may induce hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs).

Machine Learning‐Based Prediction of Life‐Threatening Complications During Hemodialysis in Hospitalized Patients With Poor General Conditions

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
A machine learning model using predialysis data predicted sudden events during or after hemodialysis with high accuracy (auROC: 0.889). The key predictors included emergency hospitalization, recent surgery, high heart rate, low albumin levels, and high CRP.

Gene expression signature for early prediction of late occurring pancytopenia in irradiated baboons

open access: yesAnnals of Hematology, 2017
Based on gene expression changes measured in the peripheral blood within the first 2 days after irradiation, we predicted a pancytopenia in a baboon model. Eighteen baboons were irradiated with 2.5 or 5 Gy.

A Case of Hyperthyroidism with Pancytopenia

open access: yesFolia Endocrinologica Japonica, 1983
A case of hyperthyroidism associated with pancytopenia has been reported. A 51-year-old woman was hospitalized for the investigation of struma, peripheral edema and fatigue. Hormonal studies revealed hyperfunction of the thyroid gland. Hematological examinations showed normocytic normochromic anemia, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia with hyperplastic ...

The Application of Artificial Intelligence‐Based Bone Marrow Cell Analysis System in Pediatric Hematological Diseases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The clinical diagnosis of hematological diseases depends on the differential count of nucleated cells on the bone marrow (BM) smears, and an artificial intelligence (AI)‐based system was applied to automatically classify BM nucleated cells in pediatric hematological disease samples in this study.

Acute Hepatitis and Pancytopenia in Healthy Infant with Adenovirus

open access: yesCase Reports in Pediatrics, 2016
Adenoviruses are a common cause of respiratory infection, pharyngitis, and conjunctivitis in infants and young children. They are known to cause hepatitis and liver failure in immunocompromised patients; they are a rare cause of hepatitis in ...

Common Hematologic Emergencies—Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and Microangiopathic Hemolytic Anemias—A Pivotal Role of Clinical Laboratory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hematologic emergencies are urgent health conditions which result in significant mortality and morbidity unless timely therapeutic measures are taken. Therapeutic success depends on their timely and accurate recognition by hematology laboratory services.
