Computational Design and Glycoengineering of Interferon‐Lambda for Nasal Prophylaxis Against Respiratory Viruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an engineered human interferon‐lambda (hIFN‐λ) as an intranasal prophylactic against respiratory viruses. By combining AI‐guided backbone redesign and glycoengineering, the authors developed a thermostable, protease‐resistant, and scalable variant with improved mucosal penetration.

An Aptamer‐Based EXACT Anticoagulant as a Sustainable, Animal‐Free Alternative to Unfractionated Heparin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By simply conjugating thrombin's active‐site inhibitor, dabigatran, with an exosite inhibitor, aptamer HD1, the resulting EXosite‐ACTive site (EXACT) inhibitors show two orders of magnitude higher potency and selectivity via synergistic binding, while maintaining the aptamer's antidote‐reversible trait, yielding a potential substitute for the animal ...

Emergence, persistence, and positive selection of yellow fever virus in Colombia

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Yellow fever virus (YFV) is an arbovirus that causes acute febrile illness (AFI), in tropical areas of South America and Africa. Through a 2020–2023 AFI study in Leticia, Colombia, leveraging metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), we identified ...

Single‐Cell Insights Into Macrophage Subtypes in Pulmonary Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights the dynamic plasticity of macrophages during pulmonary infections and proposes an integrative framework defining six functional subtypes: Inflam‐Ms, Hub‐Ms, Reg‐Ms, Prolif‐Ms, Memory‐Ms, and Senesc‐Ms. Single‐cell omics delineate their distinct roles in homeostasis and infection, refining our understanding of macrophage ...
