Risk factors associated with the intensity of COVID-19 outbreaks in Canadian community settings: a retrospective analysis of outbreak-level surveillance data

open access: yesBMC Public Health

National pandemic influenza preparedness planning [PDF]

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, 2009
Abstract  The recent outbreaks of influenza A/H5N1 and ‘swine influenza’ A/H1N1 have caused global concern over the potential for a new influenza pandemic. Although it is impossible to predict when the next pandemic will occur, appropriate planning is still needed to maximize efficient use of resources and to minimize loss of life and productivity ...

Non‐Targeting shRNA‐Encoded Plasmid DNA Enhances Protective Immunity Through RIDD‐RIG‐I Signaling Pathway in the Zika Virus Animal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a novel DNA vaccine platform featuring intrinsic, non‐targeting dsRNA that significantly enhances immune responses by activating the regulated IRE1‐dependent decay‐RIG‐I signaling pathway. This research elucidates a previously uncharacterized mechanism for dsRNA‐mediated innate immune activation.

CD147/Basigin: From Integrative Molecular Hub to Translational Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review conceptualizes CD147 as a fundamental “Energy‐Structure Coupler,” physically bridging metabolic flux (via MCTs) with morphogenetic plasticity (via integrins/MMPs) to drive cancer, infection, and autoimmunity. Addressing the “specificity paradox” that limits current translation, the authors chart a strategic roadmap—spanning logic‐gated ...
