Pandora: nucleotide-resolution bacterial pan-genomics with reference graphs

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2021
We present pandora, a novel pan-genome graph structure and algorithms for identifying variants across the full bacterial pan-genome. As much bacterial adaptability hinges on the accessory genome, methods which analyze SNPs in just the core genome have ...

Land use gradients drive spatial variation in Lassa fever host communities in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol
As West Africa urbanises, the risk of Lassa fever may paradoxically decrease. We found the invasive house mouse, a dominant urban species, outcompetes and displaces the primary Lassa virus host. Considering these species interactions is critical for accurately predicting future zoonotic disease patterns.

Evaluating the impact of spatial resolution on tropospheric NO2 column comparisons within urban areas using high-resolution airborne data [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2019
NASA deployed the GeoTASO airborne UV–visible spectrometer in May–June 2017 to produce high-resolution (approximately 250 m×250 m) gapless NO2 datasets over the western shore of Lake Michigan and over the Los Angeles Basin.

Incoherent Thomson scattering: future implementation and measurement capabilities on the PANDORA experiment

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The PANDORA (Plasmas for Astrophysics Nuclear Decays Observation and Radiation for Archaeometry) experiment aims to study the β-decay process inside a dense plasma mimicking stellar conditions. An electron cyclotron resonance plasma trap will be built at

Laboratory magnetoplasmas as an ideal experimental environment for nuclear astrophysics β-decay studies [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
The PANDORA project proposes a new experimental approach aimed at using laboratory magnetoplasmas (which emulate some stellar conditions) as an environment for in-plasma β-decays investigations.

Characterization of Nitrogen Dioxide Variability Using Ground-Based and Satellite Remote Sensing and In Situ Measurements in the Tiber Valley (Lazio, Italy)

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The spatial–temporal distributions of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in a rural area of Tiber valley were evaluated over one year (March 2022–February 2023) using remote sensing and in situ measurements.

Fungal Pathogens Infecting Soybean Aphid and Aphids on Other Crops Grown in Soybean Production Areas of Michigan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Seasonal prevalence of fungal pathogens infecting soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura (Hemiptera: Aphididae), was assessed from 2004 to 2006 in two Michigan soybean production areas. In 2005 and 2006 field-collected soybean aphids were incubated, and
