ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Incentivizing winter solar PV production in regions with seasonal weather patterns: case study of Switzerland

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Energy
An increasing number of countries are committing to carbon neutrality and plan a massive rollout of solar photovoltaics (PV) to meet this goal. Owing to its seasonal production patterns, solar PV electricity will become less valuable during summer and ...

Thermal performance analyses of a new multi-segmented minichannel-based radiant ceiling cooling panel

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2020
In this study, a new multi-segmented radiant ceiling panel with different tilt angle is proposed. The effect of segments inclination angle and panel area increase for the same coverage ratio are investigated.

Three dimensional maps of the Magellanic Clouds using RR Lyrae Stars and Cepheids II. The Small Magellanic Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We use data on variable stars from the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE III) survey to determine the three-dimensional structure of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC).

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The radiation efficiency of finite size flat panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The radiation efficiency of an infinite flat panel which is radiating an infinite plane wave into an infinite half space can be shown to be equal to the inverse of the cosine of the angle between the direction of propagation of the plane wave and the ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

DENSITAS ENERGI PADA PANEL SURYA DENGAN VARIASI JUMLAH DAN SUDUT REFLEKTOR

open access: yesAl-Ulum, 2018
The use of solar energy is increasingly needed to be improved, so engineering is needed to optimize the energy obtained. One of the engineering done is to install a mirror as a reflector that directs sunlight right into the solar panel.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Determination of Deployment Angle for the Optimum Operation of Solar Panels Used in a LEO Satellite [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2008
Solar panels are the primary sources of power in a satellite. Operating characteristics of the solar cells, such as current, voltage and generated power, depend on their operating temperatures and the amount of solar radiation received by the solar cells.
