Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Estimating Semiparametric Panel Data Models by Marginal Integration [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a new methodology for estimating semiparametric panel data models, with a primary focus on the nonparametric component. We eliminate individual effects using first differencing transformation and estimate the unknown function by marginal ...

Socioeconomic, institutional, environmental, and demographic determinants of population health in 90 developing countries: panel data evidence

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
Anchored in Grossman’s health production framework, this study examines how socioeconomic, institutional, environmental, and demographic conditions are associated with population health in developing countries. Population health is measured through three

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

On the standard errors of Oaxaca-type decompositions for inter-industry gender wage differentials [PDF]

open access: yes
Horrace and Oaxaca (2001) treat the regressors in gender wage gap by industry measures as non-stochastic when computing the corresponding standard errors.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Digital economy, green innovation, and carbon neutrality: Evidence from advanced economies using MMQR and panel smooth transition regression

open access: yesInternational Review of Economics & Finance
Climate targets under the Paris Agreement and net-zero pledges have placed carbon neutrality at the centre of international economic policy. Yet empirical evidence on how the digital economy and green innovation jointly shape carbon neutrality outcomes ...

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

Autocorrelation-Corrected Standard Errors in Panel Probits

open access: yes
Many estimates of early-warning-system (EWS) models of currency crisis have reported incorrect standard errors because of serial correlation in the context of panel probit regressions. This paper documents the magnitude of the problem, proposes and tests
