Exploring how public welfare spending shapes global economic interconnections among G7 nations: empirical evidence from panel-corrected standard errors (PCSE) and feasible generalised least squares (FGLS) estimation approaches

open access: yesQuality & Quantity
Abstract This study investigates the impact of public welfare spending on global economic interconnections among the Group of Seven nations from 1980 to 2021. Using panel-corrected standard errors and feasible generalized least squares estimation, the results show that welfare expenditure contributes 37.55% to global economic ...

Comparative assessment of crystallographic and cryo‐EM models in the Protein Data Bank

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Raw data obtained by X‐ray crystallography or cryo‐EM result in experimental maps, ultimately fitted by atomic models. Although the physical principles are different, the final results can be viewed, compared, and evaluated in the same way. With cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) on track to surpass X‐ray crystallography as the preferred method ...

Implementing Panel-Corrected Standard Errors in R: The pcse Package.”

open access: yes, 2011
This introduction to the R package pcse is a (slightly) modified version of Time-series-cross-section (TSCS) data are characterized by having repeated observations over time on some set of units, such as states or nations.

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Estimating the Impact of State Policies and Institutions with Mixed-Level Data [PDF]

open access: yes
Researchers often seek to understand the effects of state policies or institutions on individual behavior or other outcomes in sub-state-level observational units (e.g., election results in state legislative districts).

Illuminating the impact of economic policy uncertainty, renewable energy, and economic growth on environmental sustainability

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
Global policies projected a temperature increase of 2.8 °C, surpassing the 1.5 °C target, which threatens environmental quality, largely driven by economic activities, economic policy uncertainties, renewable energy consumption, and urbanization.

Self‐Regulated Learning Meets AI: Reinterpreting Self‐Regulation, Co‐Regulation, and Socially Shared Regulation in Human–AI Interaction

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advancing artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed learning and work, yet higher education and professional development programs have not systematically equipped learners for AI‐prevalent environments. This lack of preparation creates uncertainty regarding control, responsibility, trust, and accountability.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.
