Similarity and genetic relationship analysis of 28 species of Pangasiidae (Siluriformes, Ostariophysi)

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract Pangasiid catfishes have most diverse morphotype among members in the family. In the past, misidentification often occurred for the species definition. After numerical taxonomy developed, the level of similarity or phenetic analysis was used to distinguish different taxa.

The mitogenome ofPangasius sutchi(Teleostei, Siluriformes: Pangasiidae)

Mitochondrial DNA, 2013
The Pangasius sutchi is an important ornamental and economic fish in Southeast Asia e.g. Thailand, Malaysia and China. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of P. sutchi has been sequenced, which contains 22 tRNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes and a non-coding control region with the total length of 16,522 bp.

Larval rearing of the Asian Catfish, Pangasius bocourti (Siluroidei, Pangasiidae): alternative feeds and weaning time [PDF]

open access: possibleAquaculture, 2002
Three experiments were carried out to evaluate Pangasius bocourti larval rearing with different feeding regimes. In the first experiment, survival rates of larvae fed on Artemia nauplii, cladocereans (Moina sp.), or red-blood worms (Tubifex) were not significantly different, 91-93%. However, Artemia nauplii and Tubifex gave similar growth rates (35-36%

Complete mitogenomes of pangasiid catfishes and their phylogeny for taxonomic implications for Pangasiidae and the suborder Siluroidei

2023
Although Pangasiidae (four genera: Pangasius, Pangasianodon, Helicophagus, and Pseudolais) is known to be a monophyletic family, the generic and phylogenetic relationships, as well as inter- and intrafamilial relationships of the catfish families in Siluroidei, are poorly resolved.

A New Genus and Species of Proteocephalidean Tapeworm (Cestoda) From Pangasius larnaudii (Siluriformes: Pangasiidae) In Southeast Asia

Journal of Parasitology, 2012
A new proteocephalidean cestode is described from spot pangasius, Pangasius larnaudii (Siluriformes: Pangasiidae), from Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia and a new genus, Pangasiocestus , is proposed to accommodate it. The genus is placed in the Gangesiinae because its scolex possesses a large rostellum-like apical organ and its genital organs (testes, ovary,

Acceleration of gonadal maturity of female striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Pisces, Pangasiidae) by irradiation to low-power soft-laser

Animal Reproduction Science, 2023
This study was aimed to investigate the effects of red photodiode soft-laser irradiation on gonadal maturity and egg quality of female striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. Four female striped catfish (weighing 700-800 g) at stage I of gonadal maturation (for all treatments) were exposed four times (once a week) to different doses (0.2, 0.4, 0 ...

Cryptic diversity in the Indian clade of the catfish family Pangasiidae resolved by the description of a new species

Hydrobiologia, 2017
Among 22 species of the genus Pangasius, distributed in Southeast and South Asia, only one species, Pangasius pangasius, is known to exist in South Asia. Phylogenetic analysis based upon COI and Cytb sequences suggested that the P. pangasius species clade consists of two subclades.

Experimental hybridization between catfishes of the families Clariidae and Pangasiidae in Thailand

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1986
Hybrids between the clariid speciesClarias macrocephalus andC. batrachus and the pangasiid speciesPangasius sutchi were obtained by hormone injection of brood stock and artificial fertilization. Pure parental crosses as well as all possible hybrid combinations were obtained.
