Endosymbionts of Sitodrepa panicea
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1976Morphological and physiological characteristics of seven strains of yeast-like symbionts isolated from Sitodrepa panicea justify their, inclusion into the genus Torulopsis as a new species: T.buchnerii. The symbiotic relationship is mutually beneficial: the symbionts obtain some nitrogenous compounds and carbohydrates, such as proline and trehalose ...

The spermatogenesis ofHalichondria panicea (Porifera, Demospongiae)
Zoomorphology, 1990Spermatogenesis of the marine spongeHalichondria panicea begins with the break up of choanocyte chambers, choanocytes constituting the origin of spermatogonia. The transition from choanocytes to spermatogonia is direct, without cell division. Already the spermatogonia are flagellated.

New Glycosphingolipids from the Marine Sponge Halichondria panicea
Journal of Natural Products, 1992A novel sphingolipid containing an iso-fatty acid, (4E,8E)-N-13'-methyltetradecanoyl-1-O-beta-D-glucopyra nosyl-4-sphingadiene, was isolated from the Oregon marine sponge Halichondria panicea and its structure determined using a combination of spectroscopic and chemical degradation techniques.
