Development of Two Early Forecasting Models for Predicting Incidence of Rice Panicle Blast in China
Phytopathology®, 2023Early forecasting of rice panicle blast is critical to the management of rice blast. To develop early forecasting models for rice panicle blast, the relationship between the seasonal maximum incidence of rice panicle blast ( PBx) and the PBx in the preceding crop, weather conditions, location, and acreage of susceptible varieties was analyzed. The rice japonica variety Nipponbare and the indica variety 93-11, the genomic DNA sequences of which are known, were used to analyze the response of the panicles exserted from the caulis and from various effective tillers at four stages of panicle development to neck blast.

Newly identified Pijx gene: a weapon against both seedling and panicle blast in rice
Plant Cell ReportsA recently reported Pijx gene interacts and promotes the ATPb degradation through 26 proteasomal pathways activate OsRbohC mediated ROS burst, leading to broad-spectrum rice blast resistance in seedling and panicle.

Partial resistance to neck blast influenced by stage of panicle development and rice genotype
Euphytica, 1992Neck nodes of eight rice genotypes were inoculated with a virulent isolate of the blast pathogen at four slightly different, increasingly older stages of panicle development shortly after flowering. Resistance to infection as well as resistance to growth of the pathogen after infection was assessed.
