IDENTIFICATION OF IDEOTYPES BY CANONICAL ANALYSIS IN Panicum maximum [PDF]
Grouping of genotypes by canonical variable analysis is an important tool in breeding. It allows the grouping of individuals with similar characteristics that are associated with superior agronomic performance and may indicate the ideal profile of a plant for the region.

Delayed rainfall diminishes the positive response of soil respiration to warming
Warming stimulates soil respiration and its components, while delayed rainfall suppresses them. Crucially, delayed rainfall diminishes or even reverses the positive response of soil respiration to warming by intensifying the drought stress, and autotrophic respiration is more vulnerable than heterotrophic respiration under this interaction.

Diploid-Tetraploid-Dihaploid Cycles and the Evolution of Panicum maximum Jacq [PDF]
Recent research interests in plant evolution focus more and more on compartmentalization of gene pools at different levels of ploidy, which allow for coexistence of different modes of reproduction. Equilibria between tetraploid-apomictic and diploid-sexual compartments have been discussed in Parthenium argentatum (Rollins et al., 1947), in the ...

Evaluation of the physiological potential of Panicum maximum seeds by multivariate analysis
The aim of this work was to identify efficient vigor tests for differentiating the seed lots, forecasting seedling emergence in the field and assessing the physiological quality of Panicum maximum seeds. 12 seed lots from the cultivar Tanzania and 11 seed lots from the cultivar Massai were evaluated for water content, germination, first count and ...

Horizontal visibility, rather than concealment cover, drove fawn bedsite use and predation risk. Greater field of view decreased the odds of coyote predation, likely by facilitated by early detection. As fawns transitioned from hiders to followers, they shifted from using dense overstory concealment to more open overstory that favored improved escape ...

Repeatability and phenotypic stabilization of Panicum maximum accessions
The experiment aimed at determining repeatability coefficients for four methods (analysis of variance, principal components-correlation and covariance matrices and structural analysis), number of harvests necessary to increase accuracy and phenotypic stability of yield characteristics of accessions of Panicum maximum.
