Abstract The oral microbiota develops within the first 2 years of childhood and becomes distinct from the parents by 4 years‐of‐age. The oral microbiota plays an important role in the overall health/symbiosis of the individual. Deviations from the state of symbiosis leads to dysbiosis and an increased risk of pathogenicity.

[Non ordinary radiopacity on a panoramic radiograph].
A dental panoramic radiograph of a 56-years-old Sudanese woman revealed calcifications, which could be attributed to atherosclerotic lesions of the carotid artery. The occurence of these lesions is related to the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such as transient ischemic attack or cerebrovascular accident.
