Mountains of fire: The case study of Pantelleria island and the issue of volcanic landscapes
JoLA - Journal of Landscape ArchitectureThis paper examines the role of fire as a generator of landscape form. Specifically, it explores the moments when fire—as a natural element— reveals itself by shaping topographic features, such as the volcano, and how this process gives rise to what may ...

Coastal Engineering Proceedings
The paper thoroughly examines the operational efficiency of two prototypical Wave Energy Converters – specifically, a flap and a point absorber. The analysis draws upon data gleaned from both the SWAN numerical model and the ECMWF ERA5 database.

Pantelleria is a small island, 34 square miles or so, lying south of the western end of Sicily and within sight of Cape Bon, the projecting tip of the African coast (FIG. I). Though every ship through the Sicilian straits passes close by, it can be extraordinarily isolated, as we found to our cost on a visit in November, 1962.

Mooring System Design and Analysis for a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine in Pantelleria
Wind Energy, 2022The mooring system plays a key role in a floating offshore wind turbine: it connects the floating structure to its anchor on the seabed and it is designed to prevent the platform from drifting under the action of wind, waves and currents. The layout of

Genetics and ecology of an island endemic from Pantelleria: Acheta pantescus (Orthoptera Gryllidae)
Bulletin of insectologyThe biology of the recently described stenoecious cricket Acheta pantescus is mostly unknown. This study includes an integrative systematics approach using ecology and barcode sequencing of the mtDNA NADH dehydrogenase subunits (ND1), the cytochrome c ...
