Identifying Conservation and Conflict Zones for Tibetan Brown Bears Under Climate Change Through Integrated Habitat and Prey Modeling on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study evaluates the future habitat dynamics of the Tibetan brown bear on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau under climate change by integrating predator–prey relationships and environmental variables using the MaxEnt model. Results show significant habitat contraction and shifting patterns, increasing the risk of human‐bear conflict.

Comparing Watershed‐Based eDNA Sampling and Camera Trapping for Assessing Mammal Diversity in North‐Western Bhutan

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 1, January–February 2026.
We collected environmental DNA (eDNA) from river and stream water samples and processed it through DNA extraction, amplification and metabarcoding. Species were identified from sequence data and compared with camera trapping data to evaluate the effectiveness of eDNA for monitoring wild mammals in north‐western Bhutan.

Photographic evidence suggests habitat overlap and co-occurrence of tigers and snow leopards in Jigme Dorji National Park, Bhutan

open access: yesOryx
The Endangered tiger Panthera tigris and Vulnerable snow leopard Panthera uncia are umbrella species and conservation priorities. Jigme Dorji National Park is an important protected area for the conservation of both species because it serves as a source ...

THE SNOW LEOPARD (PANTHERA UNCIA): MONITORING REPRODUCTIVE ACTIVITY IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT

open access: yes, 2012
ABSTRACT - Conservation programs for endangered wild felines in controlled environments are subordinated to the objective of ensuring proper management of these animals. The aim of this study is to monitor the reproductive activity of snow leopards (Panthera Uncia) in a controlled environment -Natura Viva Park in Bussolengo (VR)- using a non-invasive ...

Mapping the landscape of livestock depredation: local perceptions as an indicator of conflict severity in north-western Bhutan

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Conflict between humans and wild animals accelerates the decline of biodiversity worldwide. The livelihoods of local communities who depend on livestock are threatened when their livestock are killed, often leading to retaliation killing and endangering ...

Insights into the spatial ecology of severely injured free‐living felids: Iberian lynx, bobcat, and snow leopard

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Severe musculoskeletal diseases, such as those associated with congenital or traumatic events, that result in missing limbs may compromise the fitness and survival of free‐living felids. Here we report the space use of four amputee individuals from three
