A tracking control for pantograph-catenary system

2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015
One of the relevant problems in high-speed train transportation systems is the regulation of the contact force between the catenary and the pantograph. The contact force should ensure a satisfactory permanent electricity feeding for the train. In this paper, a linear time varying (LTV) model of the pantograph-catenary (PAC) system is introduced.

Contact force control in multibody pantograph/catenary systems

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part K: Journal of Multi-body Dynamics, 2016
In this paper, a new continuum-based pantograph/catenary model based on the absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) is proposed and used to develop an effective method to control the contact force which arises from the pantograph/catenary interaction.

Output Feedback Control of Pantograph-Catenary System

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2013
Abstract Controlling the contact force between the pantograph and the catenary has become a requirement for improving the performances and efficiency of high-speed train systems. Indeed, these performances may considerably be reduced because of the catenary equivalent stiffness variation.

An Interactive Model of a Pantograph-Catenary System

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1996
SUMMARY The overhead electrification system for high speed trains is modeled by a three degree of freedom pantograph and an infinite homogeneous and elastically supported beam. Travelling wave solutions for the beam with a moving load are used to derive an equivalent stiffness for the pantograph model.

Influence of the aerodynamic forces on the pantograph–catenary system for high-speed trains

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2009
Most of the high-speed trains in operation today have the electrical power supply delivered through the pantograph-catenary system. The understanding of the dynamics of this system is fundamental since it contributes to decrease the number of incidents related to these components, to reduce the maintenance and to improve interoperability.

An investigation of pantograph parameter effects for pantograph-catenary systems

2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings, 2014
The pantograph and the catenary perform the current collection process in electrical railway systems. In such systems, the main purpose is to improve the quality of current collection. Many factors and parameters can affect the interaction between the pantograph and the catenary.
