Paper-Based Microfluidic Devices by Plasma Treatment
Analytical Chemistry, 2008Paper-based microfluidic patterns have been demonstrated in recent literature to have a significant potential in developing low-cost analytical devices for telemedicine and general health monitoring. This study reports a new method for making microfluidic patterns on a paper surface using plasma treatment. Paper was first hydrophobized and then treated

Isotachophoretic Preconcenetration on Paper-Based Microfluidic Devices
Analytical Chemistry, 2014Paper substrates have been widely used to construct point-of-care lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) diagnostic devices. Paper based microfluidic devices are robust and relatively simple to operate, compared to channel microfluidic devices, which is perhaps their greatest advantage and the reason they have reached a high level of commercial success ...

Paper-based fluorogenic devices for in vitro diagnostics
Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2018In vitro diagnostics (IVD) are essential in healthcare systems for detection of diseases, conditions, or infections. Affordable and sensitive methods remain a challenge in the development of IVD. In this article, we give an overview of paper-based fluorogenic devices, an emerging cost-effective analytical method for IVD applications.

Electrochemical Detection in a Paper-Based Separation Device
Analytical Chemistry, 2010Prototypes of microfluidic paper-based separation devices with amperometric detection were developed and evaluated. Photolithography was used to make a gold electrochemical microcell on polyester and that microcell was coupled to a strip of paper where a chromatographic separation occurs.

USB powered microfluidic paper‐based analytical devices
ELECTROPHORESIS, 2019AbstractMicrofluidic paper‐based analytical devices (μPADs) allow user‐friendly and portable chemical determinations, although they provide limited applicability due to insufficient sensitivity. Several approaches have been proposed to address poor sensitivity in μPADs, but they frequently require bulky equipment for power and/or read‐outs.
