Proof of some properties of transfer using noncommutative determinants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A transfer is a group homomorphism from a finite group to an abelian quotient group of a subgroup of the group. In this paper, we explain some of the properties of transfers by using noncommutative determinants.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Paper and prints as composite materials / Popierius ir atspaudai – kompozicinės medžiagos

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2013
Paper and prints on it are analyzed as composite materials. Printing, varnishing and lamination are described in terms of the formation of the composite material.

On the Rheorogical Properties of Paper

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1956
It was studied from microscopic (molecular) stanspoint of paper.1. It is deduced, that the part which corresponds to rheological properties of paper is not main valency bond in crystallite or micelle, but hydrogen bond between amorphous part. By this consideration we can expect that the decrease of paper strength at high humidity and increase of ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Mechanical properties of recycled Kraft paper residue polyester composites [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2014
Construction industry has a significant grow in the past few years. Following that rate, the amount of residue produced from that growth also increases. The need to find alternatives apart from disposing that residue in landfills have led researchers to ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Geometric properties of jet schemes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper shows how properties of jet schemes relate to those of the singularity on the base scheme. We will see that the jet scheme's properties of being Q-factorial, Q-Gorenstein, canonical, terminal and so on are inherited by the base scheme.Comment:

The UV-upturn in brightest cluster galaxies

open access: yes, 2010
This paper is part of a series devoted to the investigation of a large sample of brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs), their properties and the relationships between these and the properties of the host clusters.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by
