Hydrolysis of Waste Paper

1987
There are several methods available to convert vegetable cellulose-containing biomass into raw materials for fermentation processes. Two of these methods - acid hydrolysis and enzymatic hydrolysis - will be compared as to their economic merits. For this purpose, use has been made of paper from domestic waste separation installations.

Biogas recovery from two-phase anaerobic digestion of food waste and paper waste: Optimization of paper waste addition

Science of The Total Environment, 2018
In order to optimize the biogas recovery from the co-digestion of food waste (FW) and paper waste (PW), the effect of PW content on two-phase anaerobic digestion (TPAD) was investigated. The mixtures of FW and PW, with the ratios of 10:0, 8:2, 6:4 and 5:5 (total solids), were fed into TPAD to recover biomethane.

Bioconversion of waste paper to ethanol

Process Biochemistry, 1992
Abstract A preferred process is described for efficient bioconversion of waste paper to ethanol. The paper was given a short saccharification by cellulase enzymes at 45 °C followed by fermentation in the continued presence of the enzymes at 37 °C. Ethanol yields were 350–400 litres/t of waste paper, at 8% ethanol by volume.
