Kapok I: Characteristics of kapok fiber as a potential pulp source for papermaking

open access: yesBioResources, 2011
The potential use of kapok fiber for pulping and papermaking has been investigated. The kapok fibers were cooked using the optimal dosage of sodium hydroxide determined from the experiments. Then, the pulp was refined with two passes using a disc refiner and mixed with commercial hardwood pulp and/or softwood pulp at different blend ratios to make ...

From Green Governance to Biodiversity Strategy: The Role of Environmentally Experienced Directors in Chinese Firms

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how directors with environmental protection (EP) backgrounds influence corporate biodiversity concern (BIO) among Chinese A‐share listed firms from 2008 to 2023. Drawing on Upper Echelons Theory, we argue that directors' environmental expertise shapes firms' biodiversity strategies.

The Role of Institutional Pressures in Technology Adoption for Low‐Carbon Manufacturing

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Existing research highlights that the adoption of low‐carbon technologies in manufacturing operations is shaped by the external environment. However, limited understanding exists regarding how technology‐related uncertainty interacts with institutional pressures to influence firms' adoption strategies.

Papermaking as Potential Use of Fibers from Mexican Opuntia ficus-indica Waste

open access: yesBiotecnia, 2021
The papermaking potential of Opuntia ficus-indica (OFI) waste fibers was studied in this research. Alpha cellulose, lignin, hollocellulose, ethanol/benzene extractives and ash content were determined as 53.7±0.1%, 2.4±0.3%, 61.6±5.7%, 7.1±0.3% and 26.4±0.1%, respectively. The average fiber length, width, lumen and cell wall thickenss were found to be 1.

Harnessing Native Al/Si Impurities in Bamboo Black Liquor for Self‐Templated Closed‐Pore Hard Carbon Anodes

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A scalable strategy utilizing native impurities in bamboo lignin black liquor is proposed to construct a closed‐pore, rich hard carbon. Controlled impurity removal and high‐temperature reconstruction enable the conversion of open pores into abundant closed pores, thereby promoting sodium cluster storage.
