Papillary fibroelastoma of the anterolateral papillary muscle: an unusual case
Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2006We describe the case of a 75-year-old female admitted to our ward with a diagnosis of papillary fibroelastoma discovered during routine control. The patient was completely asymptomatic without any previous event of embolization or valve incompetence. We report this rare case of papillary fibroelastoma for its unusual location with large involvement of ...

Papillary fibroelastomas are rare benign neoplasms, predominantly involving cardiac valves, that have been discovered with increasing frequency through the use of echocardiography. Most are papillary lesions, less than 1 cm in size, connected to the valve or mural endocardium by a small stalk.

Composite encapsulated papillary carcinoma and solid papillary carcinoma
Pathology International, 2014Encapsulated papillary carcinoma (EPC) and solid papillary carcinoma (SPC) are distinctive variants of intraductal papillary carcinomas, each accounting for <1% of breast carcinomas. Here we report a composite carcinoma consisting of EPC and SPC. A 73‐year‐old woman was found to have a high density mass in the left breast on mammogram.

Papillary fibroelastoma of mitral papillary chordae in a young patient
The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, 2006Our case is a 38-year-old man, admitted to Cardiology Department with shortness of breath. Scintigraphic Recognition of Papillary Muscles and Papillary Muscle Ischemia
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1993During stress thallium imaging, papillary muscles (anterolateral and posteromedial) appear scintigraphically as focal regions of enhanced activity in sites corresponding to their anatomic position. In the normal case, enhancement after exercise is greater than or equal to enhancement at rest.

Papillary tumors of the peritoneum in women: Mesothelioma or papillary carcinoma
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1977It has been urged recently that the surface tumors of the ovary be classified as mesotheliomas because both of these neoplasms have a common ancestry. It was suggested also that the rare extragonadal peritoneal tumor of a microscopic morphology similar to that of the ovarian tumor be considered as a mesothelioma.

Renal Papillary Rarefaction: An Artifact Mimicking Papillary Necrosis
Toxicologic Pathology, 2019In histopathology, the presence of a tissue change that does not represent the tissue’s normal appearance can often lead to an incorrect diagnosis and interpretation. These changes are collectively known as “artifacts” resulting from postmortem autolysis, improper fixation, problems with tissue handling or slide preparation procedures.

Current Treatment Options in Oncology, 2000
Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common neoplasm of the thyroid gland. Surgical resection is the cornerstone of therapy. There is controversy regarding the extent of resection, ranging from thyroid lobectomy plus isthmusectomy to total thyroidectomy, but in experienced hands total thyroidectomy has many significant advantages over a lesser ...
