Oxyphilic Papillary Thyroid Carcinomas
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1995Oxyphilic papillary carcinomas of the thyroid have not been extensively studied because they are rare. The morphology and behavior of 34 cases were described. The average age was 44.1 years, the female-to-male ratio was 3.9:1, and the average diameter of the tumors was 2.3 cm. All had papillary structures present.

Familial Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
2006Over the last decade, several lines of evidence have been accumulated that support the existence of fPTC susceptibility genes. Preliminary clinical characteristics of fPTC have been identified, and linkage studies have identified the chromosomal locations of putative fPTC susceptibility genes. A logical clinical approach to fPTC is emerging.

Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histology, 1982
It is generally believed that the histological pattern of papillary thyroid carcinomas has no influence on the course of the disease. However, we were puzzled by the evidence differences in the clinical course of these tumours and decided to re-examine all microscopic specimens available at the Institute of Pathology of the University of Zürich.

Papilloma and papillary carcinoma
Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology, 2010Papillomas and papillary carcinomas differ in their 3 fundamental characteristics: the geometric properties of their fronds, the amount of their stroma, and the characteristics of their epithelium. Fibrosis at the edge of papillomas often entraps glands and creates the spurious impression of invasion.

Papillary and Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma
New England Journal of Medicine, 1998Papillary and follicular carcinomas of the thyroid are differentiated carcinomas developed from the follicular epithelium, that keep some of its morphological and functional characteristics. Their increased incidence is related to an improved screening. Thyroid carcinoma usually presents as a thyroid nodule.
