Definition of efficient PAPR in OFDM

IEEE Communications Letters, 2005
A high PAPR is a main drawback of OFDM. There are many methods for reducing the PAPR with an ultimate goal of reducing the PAPR as much as possible. It is shown that if, among other factors, the power efficiency-PAPR relationship of the power amplifier is also taken into account, then there exists a PAPR level for which the BER reaches a minimal value.

Low PAPR FBMC

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2018
Unlike single carrier-frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA), just combining discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading and filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) results in only marginal peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction.

PAPR Reduction for 5G Waveforms

2018 6th International Conference on Wireless Networks and Mobile Communications (WINCOM), 2018
In order to meet 5G mobile communication requirements in terms of data rate, high spectral efficiency and low latency and complexity, multicarrier modulation is being investigated as a part of 5G physical layer solutions. Filter Bank Multicarrier, Universal Filtered Multicarrier and Resource Block Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing are

Comparison of PAPR in OFDM and FBMC/OQAM Using PAPR Reduction Methods

2021
Though the multicarrier technique orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is generous in 4G technology, it suffers with spectrum leakage, inefficient spectrum, and high PAPR. In this paper, the 5G waveform—FBMC/OQAM PAPR—is compared with OFDM in terminologies of PAPR, and it is analyzed that FBMC/OQAM suffers with high PAPR than OFDM which ...

Papr Clipping United with Altered PTS to Lessen Papr in OFDM

2019 International Conference on Computer Communication and Informatics (ICCCI), 2019
For lessening the trouble in OFDM of PAPR, a distinctive arrangement is projected with provision clipping, hadamard matrix and PTS. In original PTS, designing of the phase sequence is very difficult and these phase sequences are highly required during division of data into multiple sub blocks.

PAPR Reduction by Symbol Nulling

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
As a multicarrier signal can exhibit large peaks in the time domain, the amplifier used to transmit the multicarrier signal must be highly linear, and thus expensive, to avoid non-linear signal distortion. To reduce the high peak-to-average power ratio, and hence to allow cheaper amplifiers, several techniques are described in the literature.

Soft decision PAPR reduction in OFDM

International Multi-Conference on Systems, Sygnals & Devices, 2012
This work deals with problem of improving the peak-to-mean average power ratio (PAPR) of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. Clipping is simple and efficient way to overcome the large PAPR in OFDM systems ; however this technique results in bit error rate (BER) increasing in the receiver.

PAPR Analytical Characterization and Reduced-PAPR Code Allocation Strategy for MC-CDMA Transmissions

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2011
In this paper, an approximate analytical expression for the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of a Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) signal is derived. Then, it is demonstrated that the PAPR of a MC-CDMA system employing Walsh-Hadamard (WH) codes can be suitably reduced by resorting to a judicious strategy for the allocation of the
