THE ANOPHELINE FAUNA OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Surveys for anopheline mosquitoes were conducted throughout the mainland of Papua New Guinea from 1992 to 1998 with the aim of mapping the distribution of the anopheline fauna. Larval collections, adult trap, and human landing collections indicated the presence of seven species (other than those belonging to the Anopheles punctulatus group); these were

COCONUT NUTRITION IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Copra yield in Papua New Guinea is estimated at 0.6 tonnes per hectare per year. Several factors may be responsible for this low productivity compared to other Asia Pacific countries. Amongst these, nutrient deficiency is an important limiting factor.

Building Bridges across Papua New Guinea's Digital Divide in Growing the ICT Industry [PDF]
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is an emerging tech society with an opportunity to overcome geographic and social boundaries, in order to engage with the global market. However, the current tech landscape, dominated by Big Tech in Silicon Valley and other multinational companies in the Global North, tends to overlook the requirements of emerging economies such ...

Majorana Fermions in Topological Superconducting Metallic Nanowires probed by a Superconducting Condensate [PDF]
We report on several low temperature experiments supporting the presence of Majorana fermions in superconducting lead nanowires fabricated with a scanning tunneling microscope. These nanowires are the connecting bridges between the STM tip and the sample resulting from indentation processes.

Porcine coccidia in Papua New Guinea
Faecal samples from 232 domestic pigs raised on concrete, 98 free-ranging village pigs, and five wild boar showed 46.6 (108/232), 54 (53/98) and 80% (4/5) prevalence of coccidian oocysts, respectively. Eight species of Eimeria, and Isospora suis, were recovered.

Description of the Early Growth Dynamics of 2014 West Africa Ebola Epidemic [PDF]
${\bf Background:}$ The early growth dynamics of the West African Ebola virus epidemic has been qualitatively different for Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. However, it is important to understand these disparate dynamics as trends of a single epidemic spread over regions with similar geographic and cultural aspects, with likely common parameters for ...

Interplay between exchange interactions and charging effects in metallic grains [PDF]
We study the effect of the exchange interactions in small superconducting grains near the Coulomb blockade regime. We extend the standard description of the grain in terms of a single collective variable, the charge and its conjugated phase, to include the spin degree of freedom.

Seismic and acoustic signals from the 2014 'Interstellar Meteor' [PDF]
We conduct a thorough analysis of seismic and acoustic data from the so-called `Interstellar Meteor' which entered the Earth's atmosphere off the coast of Papua New Guinea on 2014-01-08. We conclude that both previously-reported seismic signals are spurious -- one has characteristics suggesting a local vehicular-traffic based origin; whilst the other ...
