The area of Slavonian mountains Papuk and Krndija was proclaimed as Nature Park in 1999, spreading over an area of 34 307 ha. The elevation extends from 162 to 953 m a.s.l. Papuk is geologicaly the most diverse Croatian mountain, consisting of rocks which originated in a time span of 350 milion years.

Vision of the tourist development in the Nature Park Papuk

The basic goal of creating the Nature Park «Papuk» was to preserve this exceptionally natural locality and its further formation. In territorial terms the park would be place at the territory of seven municipalities, and its development would be based on preserving flora and fauna, especially the endemic one.

Assessment of Metals and Metalloids in Streams and Tissues of Wild Boar in Papuk Nature Parke Area

Cadmium and lead are the most common toxic pollutants in the liver and kidney of wild boar. In order to assess the heavy metal and metalloid burden on Papuk Nature Park area the concentrations of As, B, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Sb and U in wild boar muscle, liver, and kidney samples were analyzed at five sampling locations.
