An interdisciplinary approach to improving conservation outcomes for parasites. [PDF]
Abstract Parasites represent a significant proportion of Earth's biodiversity and play important roles in the ecology and biology of ecosystems and hosts, making them an important target for conservation. Despite increasing calls to prioritize protection for parasites in the academic literature, they remain undervalued and underrepresented in global ...

Prosopanche: A remarkable genus of parasitic plants
Prosopanche is a remarkable yet poorly known genus of parasitic plants. We provide an up‐to‐date revision of the current state of understanding of Prosopanche, including taxonomy, biogeography, plant–pollinator ecology and host–parasite interactions. This Flora Obscura article will deliver this extraordinary plant genus to the attention of the wider ...

Cowbirds use conspecific social information to detect host nests in the wild
Recent work shows that hosts of avian brood parasites use social information to increase egg rejection rates, but fewer studies explore how parasites themselves use such information to detect host nests in the wild. To determine whether wild Brown‐headed Cowbirds Molothrus ater use social information to detect host nests, we measured how individual ...

When honeybees come to town: Critical aspects of urban beekeeping and opportunities for regulation
Abstract Urban areas are increasingly valued for their role in conserving wild pollinators. Honeybees are often regarded as ambassador species for pollinator conservation, and beekeeping is frequently perceived as a pro‐biodiversity activity, which has become highly popular in urban areas.
