Potential vectors of Leishmaniases in the Environmental Protection Area and Tinguá Federal Biological Reserve, Municipality of Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 246-259, June 2026.
This study was to describe the composition of sand fly fauna, detect potential vectors of Leishmania spp. in the Tinguá district, an ATL endemic, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Seven species of vectorial importance in the epidemiological cycle of leishmaniasis was observed: Nyssomyia intermedia, Migonemyia migonei, Pintomyia fischeri, Psychodopygus hirsutus ...

Wound Repair Using PVA–CA Electrospun Dressings and Cold Plasma In Vivo

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 20, May 20, 2026.
In vivo wound healing evaluation of different treatments in a murine excisional wound model. (a) Representative photographs of wound closure at 3, 7, and 14 days post‐treatment for the different groups: Control, PVA‐CA, PVA‐CA‐Ag, NTP, PVA‐CA‐NTP, and PVA‐CA‐Ag‐NTP. (b) Experimental design showing six treatment groups with n = 18 wounds per group.

Strategic Assessment of Treated Wastewater Reuse Potential in Brazilian Watersheds Using Analytic Hierarchy Process

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
Assessment of treated wastewater reuse potential in two Brazilian river basins using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The map illustrates the Rio dos Sinos Watershed, where industrial reuse predominates (46%), while in the Rio Sapucaí Watershed reuse for irrigation is dominant (68%).

Landslide susceptibility mapping using a machine learning approach and different environmental factors in the Western Ghats region (India)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 5, May 2026.
Landslide susceptibility mapping in India's Western Ghats using machine learning revealed high‐risk zones driven by deforestation, slope alteration and road proximity. The Random Forest model showed highest accuracy, supporting targeted mitigation, planning and early warning systems.

Valorization of Garcinia humilis Residues in Active Collagen/Starch Films for Biodegradable Packaging Applications

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 39, Issue 5, Page 517-531, May 2026.
Residues from Garcinia humilis were used to obtain a phenolic‐rich extract (GHRE) and incorporated into collagen–starch films. The addition of GHRE improved antioxidant activity, thermal stability and elasticity, while reducing water vapour permeability.

Differential Drivers of Thermogenic and Bulk Dissolved Organic Matter in the Indian Ocean

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The oceanic dissolved organic matter (DOM) pool contains a substantial fraction of recalcitrant carbon, with thermogenic organic compounds representing a chemically distinct, long‐lived component. However, the distribution and transformation of these compounds remain poorly constrained in the Indian Ocean, a key basin of the global overturning

Detection of Equatorial Plasma Bubbles Using the COSMIC‐2 Rate of TEC Index

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs) are large‐scale plasma depletion structures that can disrupt Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and other space‐based technologies. Several instruments have been employed to study EPB dynamics, with Total Electron Content (TEC) and Rate of TEC change Index (ROTI) data standing out as valuable parameters
