Drag‐Controlled Regime Transitions in the Eddy Saturation Mechanism of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 16, 28 August 2026.
Abstract Eddy saturation—the weak sensitivity of Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) transport to wind stress—is a fundamental feature of Southern Ocean dynamics, yet the processes that maintain this state remain debated. Previous studies have proposed different mechanisms, including adjustments of eddies and standing meanders, but the conditions under

Obesity Disrupts CtBP2‐Mediated Maintenance of Transcriptional Equilibrium in Hypothalamic Feeding Circuitry

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 15, 15 August 2026.
CtBP2, a transcriptional corepressor with metabolite sensing capabilities, maintains feeding homeostasis by preventing excessive food intake in the hypothalamic feeding center. CtBP2 limits food intake by inhibiting KLF4 within AgRP neurons and by promoting the inhibitory influence of POMC neurons on AgRP neurons.

Does Platycnemia Develop in Squatting Populations as a Response to Torsional Rotation Across the Subadult Growth Plate?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 190, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Platycnemia, a mediolateral flattening of the tibial shaft, has been argued to be an adult phenomenon caused by mechanical forces shaping bone. Here we investigate the possibility that this condition develops prior to growth plate closure, at a time when the epiphyseal cartilage is responsive to torsional loading.

A Comprehensive Review of Tire Abrasion: Mechanisms, Parameters, and Wear Rates in the Era of Vehicle Electrification

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
The type of vehicle (internal combustion, hybrid, electric) has a direct effect on its tire wear particle emission. As expected, electric vehicles generate higher amounts due to their higher weight and torque, but regenerative breaking must also be accounted for.

The Hybrid Reversible Suture‐Gripping Technique: A Modified Approach for Continuous Meniscal Suturing

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The suture‐gripping technique (SGT), which uses a suture shuttle, enables unrestricted gripping, accurate needle insertion from inside the joint, and flexible withdrawal of the suture from outside the joint. We considered the possibility of using a continuous suturing technique with this method, and thus, we describe a modified approach, the ...
