Group Delay Dispersion Measurements on Mid‐Infrared Supermirrors
Group delay dispersion of novel semiconductor‐based optics is measured in the mid‐infrared spectral range (2.5 to 4.8 μm$\rm \umu{\rm m}$). Comparisons are made between simulations, measurements conducted with a home‐built white light interferometer, and measurements performed with a commercially available FTIR.

Normal forms for parabolic partial differential equations
Summary: The authors begin a study of normal form theorems for parabolic partial differential equations \[ \partial_ t v= \partial_ x^ 2 v+\mu v-v^ 3- \varepsilon R(v), \] where \(R\) is a polynomial whose terms are all of degree 4 or higher. They show that despite the presence of resonances one can construct a partial normal form for perturbations of ...

Applications of QSPR and Machine Learning in Molecular Photonics
Quantitative structureproperty relationships (QSPR) and machine learning (ML) are transforming photochemistry by enabling pre‐synthetic screening of photoactive molecules. This review outlines advances in data‐driven discovery of optical materials and functional dyes, identifies effective descriptors and models for photophysical processes, and provides

Nonlinear Transmission of Strong THz‐Electric Fields Through Thin Gold Films
Gold is is the prime metal for imaging THz radiation. This study demonstrates that the interaction of strong THz pulses with gold becomes nonlinear at certain peak THz‐electric field strengths. The strong fields change the electron density of states which contributing to the absorption of the propagating THz pulse.

The Cauchy problem for a linear parabolic partial differential equation
AbstractNumerical approximation of the solution of the Cauchy problem for the linear parabolic partial differential equation is considered. The problem: (p(x)ux)x − q(x)u = p(x)ut, 0 < x < 1,0 < t⩽ T; u(0, t) = ƒ1(t), 0 < t ⩽ T; u(1,t) = ƒ2(t), 0 < t ⩽ T; p(0) ux(0, t) = g(t), 0 < t0 ⩽ t ⩽ T, is ill-posed in the sense of Hadamard.

A Sb3+‐activated bismuth‐based halide single crystal shifts the onset temperature by ≈200 K. The confluence of the spin‐orbit interaction and the dynamic Jahn–Teller effect is responsible for maximizing the opposite emission changes at different temperatures. A high relative sensitivity (Sr) value of 18.9 % K−1 is obtained at 77 K.
