Finite Element Modeling of Residual Stress Formation during Nanosecond Laser Ablation of Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates residual stress formation during single‐spot nanosecond laser ablation of stainless steel. Experimental validation and a parametric study using finite element simulations are employed to analyze thermal effects, ablation dynamics, and stress evolution.

Some Stable Difference Approximations to a Fourth-Order Parabolic Partial Differential Equation

open access: yes, 1967
where £i = * and A = 0 -11 .1 o J' Since A AA' = 0 and A'1 = —A, (4) is a Schrodinger type system of partial differential equations, (Kreiss [6]). Richtmyer [11] and Evans [5] have derived finite difference methods for the numerical solution of Eq.

Impact of Various Rotary Friction Welding Process Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of a Steel–Aluminum Joint

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rotary friction welding of steel E355 and the aluminum alloy EN AW‐6082 can lead to the formation of brittle intermetallic phases. The primary process parameters are varied in order to determine their influence on this intermetallic phase formation and the resulting mechanical properties.

Degenerate parabolic stochastic partial differential equations

open access: yesStochastic Processes and their Applications, 2013
In this thesis, we address several problems arising in the study of nondegenerate and degenerate parabolic SPDEs, stochastic hyperbolic conservation laws and SDEs with continues coefficients. In the first part, we are interested in degenerate parabolic SPDEs, adapt the notion of kinetic formulation and kinetic solution and establish existence ...

Stratum Corneum‐Inspired Zwitterionic Hydrogels with Intrinsic Water Retention and Anti‐Freezing Properties for Intelligent Flexible Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel stratum corneum‐inspired zwitterionic hydrogel is developed for intelligent, flexible sensors, featuring intrinsic water retention and anti‐freezing properties. The quasi‐gel, composed of hygroscopic polymers and bound water, maintains its softness across a wide range of humidity.

Effect of correlation on bond prices in short rate models of interest rates [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Moravica, 2018
Short rate models of interest rates are formulated in terms of stochastic differential equations which describe the evoution of an instantaneous interest rate, called short rate.

Reduced Differential Transform Method for Exact Solution of Parabolic and Hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Computer Science & Mathematics, 2017
Aim of the paper is to obtain solution of parabolic, elliptical and coupled partial differential equation using Reduced Differential Transform Method (RDTM). The results are compared with solution obtained by other methods.

Low‐Loss Far‐Infrared Surface Phonon Polaritons in Suspended SrTiO3 Nanomembranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The low‐loss, highly confined, and thickness‐tunable surface phonon polaritons are demonstrated in the far‐infrared regime within transferable freestanding SrTiO3 membranes, achieving high figures of merit comparable to the previous record values from the vdW materials.
