Intersection of parabolic subgroups in Euclidean braid groups: a short proof

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique
We give a short proof for the fact, already proven by Thomas Haettel, that the arbitrary intersection of parabolic subgroups in Euclidean Braid groups $A[\tilde{A}_n]$ is again a parabolic subgroup. To that end, we use that the spherical-type Artin group

Parabolic subgroups acting on the additional length graph [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic and Geometric Topology, 2019
Let $A\neq A_1, A_2, I_{2m}$ be an irreducible Artin--Tits group of spherical type. We show that periodic elements of $A$ and the elements preserving some parabolic subgroup of $A$ act elliptically on the additional length graph $\mathcal{C}_{AL}(A)$, an

Recurving tropical cyclones in the western North Pacific are stronger than non‐recurving ones: Causes and implications

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study investigates the statistical characteristics of recurving tropical cyclones (TCs) over the western North Pacific (WNP). We find that recurving TCs are, on average, 38% stronger than non‐recurving TCs, owing to longer ocean exposure, fewer landfalls, and passage through warmer, more favorable thermal environments.

Parabolically connected subgroups [PDF]

open access: yesSbornik: Mathematics, 2011
We describe all reductive spherical subgroups of the group SL(n) which have connected intersection with any parabolic subgroup of the group SL(n). This condition guarantees that any open equivariant embedding of the corresponding homogeneous space into a Moishezon space is algebraic.

On parabolic subgroups of symplectic reflection groups

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 2023
AbstractUsing Cohen’s classification of symplectic reflection groups, we prove that the parabolic subgroups, that is, stabilizer subgroups, of a finite symplectic reflection group, are themselves symplectic reflection groups. This is the symplectic analog of Steinberg’s Theorem for complex reflection groups.Using computational results required in the ...

Exploring the Drivers of Ecological Sustainability: Insights From the World's Top SDGs Performers

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article investigates the impact of climate technologies, financial inclusion, renewable energy, and economic growth on the environmental sustainability of the five world's top the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) performers. Utilizing a newly compiled panel dataset, the analysis employs the load capacity factor as a proxy for ...

Normalisers of parabolic subgroups in finite unitary reflection groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2017
It is well known that the normaliser of a parabolic subgroup of a finite Coxeter group is the semidirect product of the parabolic subgroup by the stabiliser of a set of simple roots.

Group Actions of Some Subgroups of Parabolic Subgroups

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1996
The author is interested in the structure of invariant rings and invariant fields of special linear actions in the following situation: Given an \(n\)-dimensional vector space \(V\) over a finite field \(K\) and a flag \(V=V_0\supset V_1\supset\dots \supset V_r=\{0\}\) of subspaces, invariant under a parabolic subgroup \(P\subset GL(V)\).

Energetic Comparison of Linear Fresnel and Parabolic Trough Collector Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Within the last years, Linear Fresnel (LF) collector systems have been developed as a technical alternative to parabolic trough collector (PT) systems. In the past, LF systems focused on low- and medium temperature applications.
