Perceptual Distortion in Homonymous Paracentral Scotomas
Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2009Cortical remapping after peripheral or central visual deafferentation alters visual perception, but it is unclear whether such a phenomenon impinges on areas remote from a scotoma. To investigate this question, we studied variations of perceptual spatial distortion in the visual field of patients with homonymous paracentral scotoma. Two patients with ...

PARACENTRAL HOMONYMOUS HEMIANOPIC SCOTOMA
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1935Homonymous hemianopic scotoma is a rare condition. Only a small number of cases have been reported, the last two by one of us in 1930.1We are reporting another case, which would suggest that the condition is not so rare as one might be led to believe by the paucity of reported cases.

Monocular paracentral scotoma in occipital lobe infarction
Neuro-Ophthalmology, 1990Occipital lobe lesions usually cause congruent homonymous visual field defects of both eyes. The authors describe a patient with a right occipital lobe infarction, presenting with a small paracentral visual field defect of only the left contralateral eye. Repeated perimetry showed no evident visual field defect in the right eye.

Homonymous paracentral scotomas
Journal of Neurology, 1987Of 230 patients with homonymous visual field defects of central origin, 3 had paracentral scotomas. All complained of severe photophobia and difficulty in reading. Two patients suspected that the scotoma had developed as a result of glare; the visual disorder resolved in these cases, but persisted in the third patient.
