HOMONYMOUS HEMIANOPIC PARACENTRAL SCOTOMA

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1938
The purpose of this report is twofold: first, to contribute to the literature one more case of hemianopic paracentral scotoma and, second, to corroborate the reports of previous authors. In reviewing the literature we found that prior to 1930 only a few cases of this type of defect of the visual field had been reported.

Paracentral scotoma in glaucoma detected by 10-2 but not by 24-2 perimetry

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To describe, in glaucomatous patients, spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) results predictive of paracentral visual field (VF) defects present on standard automated perimetry (SAP) 10-2, but not on SAP 24-2.The SAP 10-2 test was repeated 3 times to determine whether paracentral VF defects were present.

The Effects of Nocturnal Dip and Blood Pressure Variability on Paracentral Scotoma in Early Open-Angle Glaucoma

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2016
To evaluate the effect of nocturnal dip and blood pressure (BP) variability on paracentral scotoma in early open-angle glaucoma. The present study included 72 early normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) patients and 34 early primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients.

Measurement of macular ganglion cell layer and circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer to detect paracentral scotoma in early glaucoma

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2013
Glaucoma patients with paracentral scotoma are at higher risk of losing central vision than those without glaucoma. The purpose of this study was to determine whether macular inner retinal layer (MIRL) measurements with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) outperform circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (cpRNFL) measurements in ...

[Disturbances of the pupil reflex associated with homonymous hemianopic paracentral scotoma (author's transl)].

Archiv fur Psychiatrie und Nervenkrankheiten, 1981
Four cases with isolated cerebral infarction near the occipital pole resulting in homonymous hemianopic paracentral scotoma showed loss of pupillomotor sensitivity within the scotomatous defects. This supports previous similar findings in patients with homonymous hemianopia due to larger infarctions in the posterior cerebral artery territory.

Relationships of Paracentral Scotoma With Structural and Vascular Parameters in Highly Myopic Eyes With Early Open Angle Glaucoma

Journal of Glaucoma
Précis: This study revealed the prevalence of paracentral scotoma in highly myopic eyes with early open angle glaucoma, and highlighted structural and vascular parameters associated with paracentral scotoma, which may facilitate the assessment of central visual function.
