Multimodal Imaging of a Case of Monitoring of Acute Posterior Multifocal Placoid Pigment Epitheliopathy (APMPPE): Long‐Term Follow‐Up

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
An 18‐year‐old male presented with bilateral vision loss, worsening over 10 days in the left eye and rapidly in the right eye following a suspected viral respiratory infection. On admission, his best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.9 in the right eye and 0.025 in the left.

Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy Presenting as Bitemporal Defects on Humphrey Visual Field

open access: yesVision Pan-America, 2016
A 25-year-old woman presented with blurry vision, headache, nausea, and syncope. Humphrey visual field testing revealed bitemporal defects, but magnetic resonance imaging was negative for chiasmal pathology.

Clinical usefulness of Humphrey 10-2 program for detecting hemianopic paracentral scotomas

open access: yesJAPANESE ORTHOPTIC JOURNAL, 2005

Mimickers of hydroxychloroquine retinal toxicity

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 52, Issue 9, Page 1003-1015, December 2024.
Abstract Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) retinal toxicity is an important entity that can be challenging to differentiate from its mimickers. Bull's eye maculopathy is the classical presentation of HCQ retinopathy; however, its differential includes several drug‐related retinal toxicities, inherited retinal disorders, and systemic conditions with associated ...

Bilateral acute macular neuroretinopathy in a young patient: Imaging and visual field during two-year-follow-up [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) is a rare disorder. We report a case of bilateralAMN in a young female patient, without any risk factors. She referred a positive scotoma in both eyes after flu-like symptoms.

Investigating the impact of asymmetric macular sensitivity on visual acuity chart reading in choroideremia

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, Volume 44, Issue 6, Page 1188-1201, September 2024.
Abstract Introduction Degeneration in choroideremia, unlike typical centripetal photoreceptor degenerations, is centred temporal to the fovea. Once the fovea is affected, the nasal visual field (temporal retina) is relatively spared, and the preferred retinal locus shifts temporally.

Screening for chloroquine maculopathy in populations with uncertain reliability in outcomes of automatic visual field testing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare screening methods for the early detection of maculopathy in patients treated with chloroquine (CQ) or hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and to identify the risk factors for the development of toxic maculopathy ...

Type II Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy Secondary to Malaria

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
To the best of our knowledge, we present the first case of type II acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) exhibiting in a patient suffering from malarial retinopathy concomitant with cerebral malaria acquired after travelling to West Africa without taking the necessary antimalarial prophylaxis. The patient complained of bilateral blurring of vision after
