Navigating Solute Carrier Transporters—A Comprehensive Review of Functionalized Small Molecule Probes for Target Identification and Characterization

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 238-271, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Solute carrier transporters (SLCs) are integral membrane proteins that play pivotal roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis by mediating the transport of a diverse range of substrates across cell membranes. With their involvement in fundamental physiological processes such as nutrient uptake, neurotransmitter signaling, and drug transport ...

Rare and Vulnerable: Mires of the Western Alps Are Changing Rapidly Under Climate Pressures

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 29, Issue 1, January/March 2026.
Resurveys of Sphagnum‐dominated mires in the Western Alps revealed marked vegetation changes over 12‐ and 25‐year periods. Observed patterns include increased species richness, woody plant encroachment, and declines in mire specialists, indicative of the progressive drying.

Premature aging of red wines: a matter of fatty acid oxidation? A review on lipid‐derived molecular markers and their possible precursors

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 15, Page 8315-8329, December 2025.
Abstract Premature aging of red wines (PremOx) is an emerging defect in red wines, related to the onset of cooked fruit, plum and dried figs nuances, as well as the loss of aging potential. This review is focussed on the contribute of lipid‐derived compounds, mainly originating from fatty acids oxidation, to this defect.

Contrasting Depth Dependencies of Plant Root Presence and Mass Across Biomes Underscore Prolific Root‐Regolith Interactions

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 6, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Root distributions are typically based on root mass per soil volume. This plant‐focused approach masks the biogeochemical influence of fine roots, which weigh little. We assert that centimeter‐scale root presence‐absence data from soil profiles provide a more soil‐focused approach for probing depth distributions of root‐regolith interfaces ...

Manipulating quantum Hall edge channels in graphene through Scanning Gate Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We show evidence of the backscattering of quantum Hall edge channels in a narrow graphene Hall bar, induced by the gating effect of the conducting tip of a Scanning Gate Microscope, which we can position with nanometer precision.

Midwinter Spring, The Still Point and Dante. The Aspiration to the Eternal Present in T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets

open access: yesMiscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies, 2014
The imagery of Four Quartets makes T. S. Eliot’s indebtedness to Dante’s poetic imagination evident. Among the images of Dantean inspiration, the “still point” and “midwinter spring” effectively express the concept of an eternal present, central to ...
