Paraduodenal hernia and jejunal diverticulosis
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2004Abstract A case of left‐sided paraduodenal hernia and jejunal diverticulosis is described in 75‐year‐old man who presented with chronic intermittent abdominal pain, weight loss, and anemia. A brief review of the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical presentation displays the variety of symptoms associated with these rare conditions.

Laparoscopic repair of a paraduodenal hernia

Transient left paraduodenal hernia
Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, 2005A 52-year-old woman with acute deterioration of recurrent abdominal pain was admitted to the hospital. Spiral computed tomography (CT) of abdomen was performed. A left paraduodenal hernia was identified on CT. There was no clinical sign or imaging finding suggesting intestinal obstruction or mesenteric ischemia.

An internal hernia is the protrusion of a viscus through a normal or abnormal opening within the confines of the abdominal cavity. Internal hernias account for 0.2 to 0.9 per cent of all cases of intestinal obstruction. Paraduodenal hernias are relatively rare congenital malformations and account for 30 to 53 per cent of all internal hernias.

Surgery of left paraduodenal hernia
The American Journal of Surgery, 1975The clinical presentation, embryologic and etiologic factors, and repair of left paraduodenal hernia are presented. A new operative procedure for cure of left paraduodenal hernia is presented that deals effectively with the sac and predisposing arch containing the inferior mesenteric vein without section of the vein.
