Diagnostic Delay of Unilateral Facial Paralysis Caused by Occult Malignancy: A Scoping Review
This scoping review of 27 studies (66 patients) characterizes unilateral facial paralysis caused by occult malignancy, a rare entity marked by a mean diagnostic delay of 21 months and initially negative imaging in 89% of cases. Progressive paralysis, lack of recovery, trigeminal or additional cranial nerve involvement, and a history of regional skin ...

Abstract Objectives The study aimed to assess the feasibility of recording electrically evoked compound action potentials (ECAPs) from the rat spinal cord. To achieve this, we characterized electrophysiological responses of dorsal column (DC) axons from electrical stimulation and quantified the relationship between ECAP and motor thresholds (ECAPTs and

Abstract Objectives Central poststroke pain (CPSP), a neuropathic pain condition, is difficult to treat. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) targeted to the primary motor cortex (M1) can alleviate the condition, but not all patients respond. We aimed to assess a promising alternative rTMS target, the secondary somatosensory cortex (S2),

Postoperative Hypocalcemia Following Total Thyroidectomy Versus Completion Thyroidectomy
Completion thyroidectomy performed with at least a three‐month interval demonstrates superior parathyroid preservation compared to primary total thyroidectomy, as evidenced by significantly higher postoperative parathyroid hormone levels (51.90 ± 30.26 pg/mL vs. 30.90 ± 17.10 pg/mL, p = 0.006).

A Clinical Feasibility Study of Spinal Evoked Compound Action Potential Estimation Methods
Abstract Objectives Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is a treatment for chronic neuropathic pain. Recently, SCS has been enhanced further with evoked compound action potential (ECAP) sensing. Characteristics of the ECAP, if appropriately isolated from concurrent stimulation artifact (SA), may be used to control, and aid in the programming of, SCS systems.
