A Radioresistant‐Tumor‐Targeted Nanoparticle for X‐Ray‐Controlled Nitric Oxide Release to Potentiate Radiotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The PBTN targets GRP78 and, upon X‐ray irradiation, generates ONOO− to induce immunogenic cell death, thereby activating CD8+ T cells and establishing a systemic antitumor immune response. ABSTRACT Nitric oxide (NO) treated radioresistant tumors by relieving hypoxia and blocking DNA repair, but its nonselective toxicity has precluded therapeutic use ...

A theoretical study on throttle ranges of O/F controllable hybrid rocket propulsion systems

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2018
The characteristics of several O/F control methods for hybrid rocket propulsion have been discussed and theoretically analyzed from the physical properties of propellants and fuel regression behavior.

Tetrastigma Hemsleyanum Polysaccharide Suppresses Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Disrupting the Hippo‐YAP/TEAD4‐PDIA4 Axis and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) exhibits addiction to chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, which sustains an aggressive metastatic phenotype through activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we identify a previously unrecognized “ER‐stress addiction” axis in which the Hippo pathway effector TEAD4 directly ...

Myeloid‐Derived Grancalcin Promotes Periodontal Inflammation and Pathological Bone Remodeling in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grancalcin (GCA), a myeloid‐derived protein, is enriched in gingival tissues of periodontitis patients and mouse models. Through interactions with CD44 and activation of MYH9, GCA promotes NF‐κB signaling and exacerbates periodontal inflammation and bone loss.

EXPOSURE CHARACTERIZATION AND POTENTIAL HEALTH IMPACTS OF DOMESTIC FUEL USE IN HOMES IN KHAYELITSHA, WESTERN CAPE

open access: yesClean Air Journal, 1996
The pattern of fuel use in Lower socio-economic class homes in the Western Cape differs from that in Gauteng province, in that the use of paraffn and gas predominates. The degree of exposure to gaseous and particulate pollutants as a result of the use of

SMAD4 Palmitoylation Drives a Metabolic‐Transcriptional Circuit to Promote Tumorigenesis and Confers Radiosensitivity in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies palmitoylation as a novel regulatory modification of SMAD4, mediated by ZDHHC22/APT2. It activates fatty acid synthesis, creating a self‐reinforcing SMAD4–FASN–palmitate feedback loop that drives pancreatic cancer growth and enhances radiotherapy sensitivity.

TP53 R249S mutation in hepatic organoids captures the predisposing cancer risk

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The systematic approach in elucidating the gain‐of‐function (GOF) roles of TP53 mutations in early liver carcinogenesis. Unique downstream targets of TP53 L3 mutations were identified from chormatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in HCC cell lines, followed by a series of validation assays to substantiate the exclusive transcriptional regulations ...

Association between cooking fuels and mild cognitive impairment among older adults from six low- and middle-income countries

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
There is a small body of evidence suggesting that unclean cooking fuel use may be associated with cognitive decline. However, to date, no study has investigated the association between unclean cooking fuel and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
