Modification of Paraffin Wax

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2006
The modification of paraffin wax by way of physical concoction and chemical oxidization was discussed. All the indexes of the modified paraffin wax were close to those of natural bees wax. The best catalyst was chosen and optimum operational conditions and the thermal effects of the reaction were determined on the laboratory measure.

Paraffin and Polyester Waxes

2015
Despite the rapid expansion of molecular and genomic techniques, anatomical and structural analyses are often crucial to answer biological questions. The success of microscopical examinations of cells, tissue, and organs depends on the nature, size, and orientation of the specimen.

Chromatographic analysis of paraffinic waxes

Journal of Chromatography A, 1978
Abstract Gel permeation and gas chromatographic analyses of crude paraffinic waxes are reported. Molecular weights ( M n and M w and molecular-weight distributions of crude paraffinic waxes containing different amounts of oil have been determined using a gel permeation chromatographic calibration curve for n-paraffins.

Fractionation of Paraffin Wax Mixtures

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2000
Experimental results for the supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE) of paraffin wax using supercritical carbon dioxide are presented and compared with short path distillation (SPD). A simple simulation algorithm is presented and used to simulate SCFE cases.

Development of Leather Wax by Oxidized Paraffin Wax

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2010
Abstract A mass proportion paraffin and microcrystalline wax was adopted as raw material, and under certain conditions a catalyzed oxidation reaction took place, in which a sample with qualities and performance similar to that of natural carnauba wax was obtained.

Determination of acidity of paraffin wax

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1972
1. The error has been determined in the water extraction method of determination of acidity of paraffin wax, and it has been demonstrated that this method cannot be used for the quantitative assessment of the content of sulfuric acid or alkali in wax finished by the sulfuric acid treating process. 2. Two methods have been studied for the

Solubility of paraffin wax in kerosene

Fuel, 1977
Abstract The solubility of fully refined paraffin wax (51–54 °C m.p.) in a commercial kerosene has been determined and compared with theoretical and empirical prediction equations. Over the limited range of these experiments the experimental results and the theoretical and empirical curves show similar trends; at concentrations up to about 10 wt ...

Ionization of Paraffin Wax by Beta-Radiation

Journal of Applied Physics, 1948
This is a quantitative experimental study of the primary ionization of paraffin wax by beta-radiation. Electrons emitted by uranium and carbon 14 were used. Interpretation, by means of a simple theory, of experimental data on the electrical conductivity permits evaluation of the ionic mobility in paraffin and the efficiency of ion-pair production. Only

Analysis of Paraffin Wax in Fire Remains

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1975
Abstract Candles are sometimes used for arson because of fairly predictable delay in ignition of other combustibles as the candle burns down. Also, they are easily consumed in the resulting fire. It has been known that residues of paraffin often survive a fire and can be detected by chemical or physical means.

UNUSUAL USES OF PARAFFIN-WAX DRESSINGS

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1923
Case 1. —V. R., a girl, aged 8, was scalded by boiling water during the spring of 1922. The wound had healed with much cicatrization of the elbow and the adjacent portions of the arm, and with almost complete fixation in flexion of the elbow. May 7, 1923, I removed about a square inch of scar tissue contiguous to the healthy skin, and dressed the ...
