Functional paraganglioma [PDF]
Paraganglioma are tumours arising from neural crest cells of the sympathetic and parasympathetic paraganglia. Functional paraganglioma presents with symptoms of catecholamine excess that includes hypertension, flushing, diaphoresis, etc. Non-functional paraganglioma are usually found incidentally during imaging studies.

Abstract Background Pediatric urinary bladder paraganglioma is an exceptionally rare neuroendocrine tumor arising from chromaffin cells within the detrusor muscle. Due to its rarity and variable presentation, early diagnosis can be challenging, often requiring a high index of clinical suspicion and multimodal evaluation.

Paraganglioma in the nasopharynx
A 50-year old male presented with swollen right eyelids, bleeding per nostrils and a vague left post-auricular swelling for 4 months. Posterior rhinoscopy revealed one pinkish polypoidal mass in the posterior nare and roof of nasopharynx. FNAC from the post-auricular swelling suggested metastatic undifferentiated carcinoma.
