Trait‐mediated effects driven by an invasive herbivore alter functionally diverse plant–frugivore interactions

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Fruit traits play a fundamental role in mediating plant‐frugivore interactions, shaping seed dispersal dynamics. Given the complexity of multi‐species interactions, these traits and, consequently, plant‐frugivore interactions can be indirectly influenced by third‐party ...

Effects of post‐fire heating on germination and early growth of two congeners of Dimorphandra species from Cerrado and Atlantic Forest

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, EarlyView.
Plants in the Atlantic Forest are not adapted to fire. On the other hand, in the Cerrado, fire occurs naturally, favoring species morphophysiologically adapted to its seasonal occurrence. However, little is known about the influence of the post fire scenario on the germination of woody species seeds in these two biomes.

Life‐history traits and survival responses to light and water of the rare endemic species Cuphea gaumeri Koehne (Lythraceae)

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, EarlyView.
Cuphea gaumeri is a rare endemic species that faces conservation challenges due to climatic variation. Our experiment showed that germination and growth were highest under high water availability and shade. At the same time, reproduction was delayed under low water and shade, and survival was greatest with high water and sunlight exposure.

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, EarlyView.
Abstract This article outlines an integrated model of language change, where change is viewed as the acquisition of innovative grammars by individual native speakers. It is integrated in that it shows how change that is induced by contact between languages, dialects and sociolects can be understood, alongside purely internal change, as part of a single
