Paralichthys patagonicus spawning areas and reproductive potential in the Bonaerense Coastal Zone, Argentina (34º-42ºS)

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2011
The reproductive biology of Patagonian flounder (Paralichthys patagonicus) was studied in the Bonaerense Coastal Zone (34º-42ºS) using samples collected in December 2003 and 2005. According to the literature, the data were analyzed considering two population groups: one in the northern zone (34º-38ºS) and another in El Rincón (38º-42ºS).

Changes in the Gut Microbiota Composition of Juvenile Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) Caused by Pathogenic Bacterial Infection

open access: yesFishes, 2023
The fish gut microbiota plays an important role in overall health. However, few reports have described the changes in the composition of gut microbiota following infection with pathogenic bacteria in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus).

Dietary Supplementation of a Mixture of Nucleotides, β-Glucan and Vitamins C and E Improved the Growth and Health Performance of Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus

open access: yesFishes, 2023
A twelve-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of a functional immunostimulant mixture (FIM; nucleotides, β-glucan and vitamins C and E) on growth, feed utilization, innate immunity, digestive enzyme ...

Interactive Effect of Dietary Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) and Water Temperature on Growth Performance, Blood Plasma Indices, Heat Shock Proteins and GABAergic Gene Expression in Juvenile Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus

open access: yesMetabolites, 2023
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system of living organisms and has the ability to reduce the magnitude of stress in humans and animals. In this study, we evaluated the supplemental effects

Y-specific amh allele, amhy, is the master sex-determining gene in Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is an important marine fish species of both fisheries and aquaculture in Northeast Asia. The commercial interest for all-female progenies due to several sex-related traits has prompted basic research on the ...

Genetic and morphometric analyzes of Paralichthys species confirm the presence of P. brasiliensis in the Uruguayan waters

open access: yesNeotropical Biodiversity, 2019
Paralichthys species have high commercial value and constitute a resource for demersal fisheries in the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean. Although six species have been described based on morphological characters for the Uruguayan and Argentinean waters, only

Characterization of Co-Stimulatory Ligand CD80/86 and Its Effect as a Molecular Adjuvant on DNA Vaccine Against Vibrio anguillarum in Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
The CD80/86 molecule is one of the important co-stimulatory ligands and involves antigen-specific immune responses by ligating with CD28 and then delivering the required second signal to T-cell activation. In this study, a CD80/86 homolog was identified,
